Happy to help!

"K, if you need any help, call me. Cause I'm Ab, and I'm happy to help!"
(I have no idea what I was about to do but it was super cute what she said!)

Can you teach me?

Okay, this may be a little too much information but it's super cute! Abby was going to the potty and said "I ate too much, I spoiled my supper. The goldfish are going in the potty!" he he he....seriously now.

(I should perhaps mention that she has a book that explains where poop comes from!)

And this morning she said while I was getting ready for work:
"Mom, I want to be nice and beautiful too. Can you teach me?" Then she proceeded to say: "Mom, I have to tell you something. Yesterday I was sneaky and put on some of your makeup!"
I told her that she doesn't need makeup, she's already nice and beautiful! I suppose I should have mentioned something about not being sneaky too! But at least she tells me!!

Love my girl.

A pleasure!

"Mommy, I'm sorry for saying a bad word when we were on the way to Nana's yesterday. ("Shut up Lochlan!" - he was crying and being fussy.) This comment was from early November.

Yesterday, I gave Abby the job of putting Lochlan's books back on his shelf. (A never ending battle since he likes to pull them all out.  Abby would tell me that she did something and I would say good job. She then came out with: "It's a pleasure!" Hilarious!

Wednesday morning we woke up to the first snowfall of the season. Abby was in still in her jammies but put on her coat, hat, boots, my gloves and was out the door in an instant!  She came back in and said" "Mom, it's all snowy and crunchy! You've got to try this!"

sweet sweet love

As Lochlan was going to bed, Abby gave him a kiss, said goodnight, then:
"Thanks for playing with me Loch."

The calculator

One day last week, Abby and I went to the mall to get a few things. She said, "Oh mom, I really want to ride the calculator!" I said, "the calculator?"

[giggle giggle]

"Oh, you mean the escalator!"  That comment made the girl working laugh.

She has been playing a lot more on her own this week. She'll disappear into her room and close the door. She'll say something like,"I'm doing a very important job." This morning, she was in her room, again with the door closed, and I went to check on her. She was a little reluctant to let me in at first but when she finally did she said "I'm decorating my room for Christmas!" She was putting the new Christmas stickers I got her on her walls. Thankfully, they are not that sticky and should be fine! (She knows though that she's not to put stickers on the wall! Hence the hesitancy to let me in!) I did tell her it was okay, but she should make sure it's okay next time.

taking care of babies

Abby has been playing a lot with her babies lately. She's taken to getting them ready for bed and dressing them for the day and playing with them. I'm looking forward to her learning how to dress them on her own! (I know Rob is too!) 8 babies plus Dora, is a bit much! Oh, and she KNOWS when one is missing! Not only does she count them, but she can tell you which one is not there!

Last night:
"Loch, is it alright if I borrow your jammies?" She then proceeded to take pretty much all of Lochlan's jammies from his drawer to take down to the toy room and dress her babies - with daddy's help! Oh yes, then they were lined up for show, then stories on the couch, then got carried up to her room for bedtime. Abby was washing her hands and I told her that she didn't have to wash her hands until after she went to the potty and she said, "I have to rinse them because I was touching the babies poop!"

"Mom! I have to go! I'm going to a tent out. Yeah, it's going to be long! Come on huns!" (to her babies) She then put them all on her floor in her room and covered them with a blanket and gave them each a lovey. One got a teddy bear, another a horse, one got to sleep with a watering can and another a piece of paper! But she was thoughtful!!!

This morning she was up at 5am! Yes, 5am!! Even with the time change, 5am is early for her! Like at least an hour and a half early! (She was getting up at 6:30/7 o'clock prior to setting the clocks back) So a 5:30 wake up call wouldn't have been that bad. But when I looked at the clock there was a definite groan! The best part was that my groan was short lived because she came in our room, said something like "mom, I'm just playing with my babies but I wanted to say good morning." So how can you be irritated by that! It was just too darn cute! She closed her bedroom door even. She came in a few times for help with an outfit for the baby or to tell me something but otherwise she was content playing on her own! Marvelous! I even had to go put the TV on for the "babies!" Too cute!

Getting ready to come home from Nana's today, (my mom's) I told Abby to put on her socks and shoes. I overheard her saying to Lochlan: "Lochlan, can you do me a favour? Can you carry my socks?"

And another smile maker happened tonight in the car. "Mom! The moon is coming home with us! I wish I could touch the moon...but I can't!"

pat patting

Abby gave me much material today. Such a funny gal!

At breakfast this morning, Abby asked for more toast. I went to grab her plate and noticed that it was now sitting on the couch in front of the TV.  I said, "hmmm, how'd that get there?!"
She said: "I was a sneaky girl!"

For some reason this morning her word of the day was "jazzy." For instance, she said about Lochlan: "He's a jazzy boy!"

"He's so cute! How'd Lochlee get here?
Oh dear, she's only three. It can't be the birds and the bees just yet!
She followed that up with: "Daddy brought him from the hopital!"  Whew!

Abby also told me today referring to Lochlan "Don't be jealous!"  I have no idea what I was supposed to not be jealous of! (perhaps his nap times! lol)

I gave her a cheese string today at lunch and she said very seriously, "mommy, don't do that! It hurts it!" (I had started to peel the pieces of cheese for her)

And my favourite: Abby fell off her chair trying to reach for a crayon and Lochlan came over while I was hugging her and started patting her back! What a great moment!
Abby said "Awe, he's pat patting me!"

Christmas request

Some days Abby sighs and says "Oh, I really want it to snow!" (Let's not be in such a hurry there missy!)

I recently asked her what she would like for Christmas and at first she said she wanted a lion! Correction 5 lions! Because she really loves her li! (He is her favourite stuffed animal that is her comfort item)

So I asked her if she would like anything else. She thought for a moment and then said:
"I know, I'll ask for a present for Lochlan!"

Warmed my heart. What a thoughtful little girl we have. xo

faster legs & beer

While outside having fun and playing Ballerina's and running around chasing each other, Abby said:
"Mom, can you teach me how to make my legs run faster? I can't get them to go fast!"
Bless her!

We were having supper last night and Rob was pouring us a glass of gingerale. Rob told her that it was like beer and that she couldn't have any.

She thought for a few moments and then said something along the lines of, "Hmmmm...I think when I get bigger, I would like to have beer!" Oh dear! But man, did that make me giggle. That was followed up with:

"But I'm not bigger yet! ......Maybe I can have just a little sip? Just a teeny tiny sip? Please? Just one?"

Um...no...

stop sign & big girl treats

Okay, so were driving home today from a store, and we were talking about Christmas. I asked Abby what she'd like to get Lochlan for Christmas. Her answer was definitely not what I was expecting! She thought for a moment and then said, "I know what I'll get Lochlan for Christmas! Wait for it, wait for it.....wait...wait....a stop sign!"

Come again?

Yes, my dear sweet three year old would like to get her baby brother (although I guess he's not technically a baby anymore) a stop sign for Christmas!

I asked her if she thought Lochlan would like a stop sign. She said, "yes, he would." I said, "well what will he do with a stop sign?"

She said, "I'll hold the sign, and say Lochlan, 'stop!' And then he'll laugh!"

Fair enough.

-----------------

This morning Abby said: "Mom, do you want to have big girl treats?" I asked her what that was. She said "You know, you have special treats for big girls like you and me!"

------------------

I really wish I could remember everything I tell my brain to remember that she says is super cute or funny. It slightly irritates me that I don't. But at least she has plenty of material!

miss you

Abby and I were playing with her letter pieces and building blocks out of them. We created a little rectangle and she sat in it. She said, "this is for big girls, not big mommies." I'm not sure if I should be offended!!!

Later, we were enjoying hanging out together in the toy room and all of a sudden she stopped and said "I miss you." I told her I missed her too. Then she said, "I really miss you when you're at work." I gotta admit, I had instant tears in my eyes. Broke my heart really. It's definitely been a very busy week as I've been putting in long hours between both jobs. But we're trying to spend every chance we get together. And thankfully I don't work as much next week.

Then later as we were reading stories, "Mom, I want to tell you something - I love you."

bell-eh bell-eh!

To her dolls: "K babies, let's get napping!"

When dropping off Abby and Lochlan at Nana and Poppa's one day last week, Abby informs me this: "I'll be good. I won't knock Lochlan over or bonk him on his head!" Good to know!

And this morning she said to Lochlan. "Bud, you have to keep your shirt on so your bell-eh bell-eh don't get cold. K, bud?"

Pretend

Brad, my sister's husband came over yesterday to fix our toilet. Abby had so lovingly put an entire roll of toilet paper in and it clogged it up. Still haven't found out if perhaps she put something else in there too! But yes, an overflow occurred. Good times!

Thankfully Brad came to our rescue (yet again) and brought Owen, his youngest. So Abby and I are sitting at the table having breakfast and she says: "Mommy,  I'll be Uncle Brad, and you be Owen." I said...okay.... Then, "Owen, can you hand me that wrench?"

It was pretty cute I must say!

We also played "You be Abby, and I'll be mommy."

Then she was talking about about wolves and the forest and saying that I have to be careful because "they just puff you down!"

"You hear the sniffly sound?" *sniff sniff* "It's in the forest. You have to be careful."

Ever the imagination of a sweet little three year old.

Buddy

Abby has been away for the weekend camping with my parents and a few friends and other family members. Tonight she said to my mom, "Nana, I want to see my buddy, Lochlan."

: )  So sweet.

Teacher Abby

One morning Abby said to me: "Mom, Lochlan can't talk." I said, "No hunny, he can't."
Abby: "I'll teach him. Lochlan, talk! Say, ruff!"

And the other day she got up after having a very interrupted sleep in the night and went to watch a show. She told me: "I'm laying down cause I didn't get much sleep!" I told her she could go back to bed but she said no, she was okay. Just layin' down.

twirl, cheese, flies

I really wish I could remember all of the cute things that Abby says when I think "I have to remember this and write it down." Alas, I forget! Anyway, I did manage to write down a few.

After spilling something...."Ok, I'm gonna need a cloth."

About Rob: "He's a great man. He has the power, and the glory!"

I was exhausted after working all day and came home and said to Abby: " I'm pooped." Abby: "Huh? You pooped?"

Rob was trying on his kilt with his new birthday accessories and Abby put on her "gown" and was twirling around. Then she said: "Dad - can you twirl?" How awesome is THAT?! lol He was like, um...no hunny, I don't twirl.

"Mom, say what can we do to cheer her up Lochlan? I know, give her cheese!"

After spending the day with Granny I asked Abby if she was a good girl. She said, "No, I wasn't good." So I later asked if Lochlan was good. She said "Yeah, he was good, but not me."

There have been some fruit flies hanging around lately. At dinnertime Abby said "Shoo! I don't want flies for supper!"

Trying to get her to whisper as she was playing in her room since it was early and Lochlan and daddy were still sleeping. "Abby you're being too loud." Abby: "I have to be loud because I can't hear what I'm saying."

a good joke

Rob: "Abby, the secret to a good joke is knowing when to end the joke!
Abby: "But I like my joke!"

wait for it...

Thankfully I've remembered to write a few of Abby's sayings down as they occur. So these are a few from the past couple of weeks. I know I have a few more written down around here and I'll post them soon. Enjoy!

Abby: "Mom, can you do me a favour? Run upstairs to my room and get something for me? me: "Like what?" Abby: "Wait for it, wait for it....a....a.....teddy bear for Lochlan!"

"That doesn't really look like stairs but thanks for trying!" (We were playing with lego and I was building "stairs."

And this one from May 12th. I think it was some type of goulash.
"I tried it, but it's just not yummy."

Big girl's job, drip dropping, princess

"Stand back dad, this is a big girl's job!" she was actually trying to squish fruit flies!

"Don't worry mom. It's just drip dropping out!" (after I said it was starting to rain so we might not be able to go outside to ride her bike.

I was talking to Abby about how it felt like fall was in the air. I asked her if she knew what happened in the fall. Naturally, she wasn't sure. So I told her: Thanksgiving, Halloween, leaves changing and falling, apple picking....and I asked her if she knew what she wanted to be for Halloween. She said, "A princess! And I'm going to paint red on my lips!"
No idea wear that came from!

There are so many wonderful things that Abby says on a daily basis. I'm finding that if I don't write them down, I tend to forget. So I'm thankful I started this blog so I can put them all in a book one day for her to enjoy. And hopefully give a smile to anyone who reads this along the way.

Rain

On our way to Granny & Grampa's Abby was talking about how she really wanted to go to the splash pad. I told her that it was up to Granny. And that besides, it looked like it was going to rain.
She said: "No it isn't. Stay there rain!" (If only it were that simple!)

I think at some point, I've said something similar. I remember one time her saying that it looked like rain clouds and said "no, it's not going to rain." She said why? And I said "because I said so. No thank you rain!"

So like mother like daughter! xo

Butter!

"Mom, I want toast." "Do you want jam on it? " Said all in the same tone: "No, I want butter butter butter. I said butter."

I'm free!

After spending our morning at the hospital which turned out to be a non-specific rash, Abby asked me to remove her bracelet. She said, "I know! You can use Nana's scissors!" (the craft wavy ones - interesting in itself) I cut it off and she said:
"Mommy, I'm free!"

Love her. xo

The sun is out!

"Mommy the sun is out. See, right there! It's shining on you. It's yellow, just like there!" (pointing to the yellow on my pajamas bottoms) - August 5th

I always enjoy the sayings that Abby uses to wake me up. How can you not smile and have a great start to your day?

Abby to the rescue!

"Don't worry baby, I'll rescue you! da da da da!
Here I am baby! I saved you!" after Lochlan woke up crying from his nap

Why?

"Is that the lake? Why is that the lake?" Abby has taken to asking "why?" about everything these days.

"What's his name? Why?"...and so on and so forth.

Sort of drives you a bit batty but it can be cute sometimes too. Can be!!
lol

When I grow up...

"Mom, what do you want to be when you grow up? I'm going to be a train!" Abby, you can't be a train, you could work on a train. "No, mom, I'm going to be a train!" July 19th while having lunch. She has also said she's going to be a baby when she grows up. Guess it takes the "you can be anything 'you want to be' to a whole new level!

We had just arrived at Nana and Poppa's and I had shut the car off but was listening and dancing along to J Lo's 'Get on the Floor.' Abby says: "Mom, I think we can get out now!" July 20th

Abbyisms

Abby says the cutest things and I've often wished I had them all documented. Better late then never! One day, I'll try to remember ones from the past and post them.

"It's okay, we're rockin' and rollin' babe!" - July 17th said to Lochlan when he was upset in his car seat as we were getting ready to go to Danielle's for a playdate with Ryan and Michael.
