Protein

I was struggling a tiny bit to carry something awkward and heavy and Abby said "I'll help you mom, I have protein!"

We were making up Abby's chore chart, and Abby picked "Keep hands to self" as one of her tasks. A little while later as she was playing with Lochlan, she was being a little aggressive and was hanging on to him and leading him (pushing him) and I told her to not do that....and also reminded her about her chart. She immediately went over to her chart, picked the keep hands to self magnet off and said, "I don't want to keep my hands to myself."  A few more minutes passed, she was once again doing something similiar with Lochlan and again, I told her to stop. She said: "mom, mom, mom, it's okay. It's not on my chore chart!"

Bum

Lochlan was standing on a chair yesterday while eating lunch and I kept telling him to sit down. Abby said, "yeah Lochlan, that's why God gave you a bum!"

No show!

The other day Abby lost her TV privileges.She brought me a Dora video and said "mom, can I watch this?" I told her "no, you don't get to watch any shows today." And she goes: "mom, mom, mom, mom, I'm not saying a show, I'm saying a movie! Okay?" I explained it was the same thing and then she said, "but mom, you're really hurting my feelings."

Seriously, now.

Boobies

I had just gotten out of the shower, had my towel wrapped around me and was in Abby's room getting something for her when she said, "Mom, you can get dressed in here if you want. I won't say boobies. I won't. I promise, k?"

George!

Oh how I love Abby.

Yesterday I loved hearing her say "One, Two, Three, Four, Five....GEORGE!" and then running and jumping on Rob. It was too cute to correct her. (Charge!)

Leaking eyes

"You hurt my feelings. Mom, you hurt my heart. My eyes are starting to leak!"

Oh please!!! I think I actually said that and giggled a bit! Yes of course she was being a bit dramatic. Change that, very dramatic! I can't even remember what it was about!!!

do you think that maybe...

I have had quite the cough lately and have had trouble sleeping as a result.

Abby woke up one morning and it was super early (I think it was 5:20am) so I put on a show and tried to sleep on the couch. All of a sudden she said:
"um, mom, do you think that maybe you want to go to your bed?"
I laughed and said, "why, is my coughing driving you crazy?"
She said, "well, kind of."

What a girl!

So I went up and tried to sleep in her room. (didn't want to drive Rob crazy too!) I heard her thump thump thump up the stairs, opened her door, flicked on the light, and said "oh sorry, mom. I didn't know you were in my room! I just wanted to get dressed."

She got herself dressed. Then went thump thump thump back downstairs. Then thump thump thump back up the stairs and said:
"Sorry mom, I forgot to shut off the light!"

thump thump thump back down the stairs.

Since Lochlan has been in the hospital battling pneumonia, Abby has missed her baby brother and has said so many times. Yesterday she wanted to come see him and I told her she would have to wait because I had to go to work. She promptly said:

"Mom, I have an idea! You can drop me off at the hospital and then you can go to your class and teach the children!"

I got this!

This morning Abby woke up and I was really hoping for a few minutes of extra sleep or at least be able to close my eyes! I told her to push the top left button on the remote. (TV is downstairs in the family room)
She sighed and said "Oh, I have to do that now too?" Then we heard Lochlan waking up and she said "It's okay mom, I'll get him. I got this! I'm getting to be a big girl. I'm going to be 4 in July. Yeah, on the 13th."

Rockin' out!

Cleaning this morning, Abby was my big helper. (with our little helper, Lochlan although I wouldn't exactly call him a helper so much as I pull things back out and play with them kinda guy) We were listening to some music and I asked her to put on of her toys in the bin and she said: "mom, I can't right now, I'm rockin' out!"  I gave her a high five for that one!

The other day Abby was sitting on the potty and doing her business and out of the blue she goes:
"Pooo...pee! ha ha!" Stretching out the word so it became two separate words. So funny. Yep, that's what you were doin babe! I think the funnier part was that she thought she was creating her own joke!

I think it was the same time that she became very inquisitive and asked where the poop and the pee go from the potty. And also where the water in the sink and the tub go.  She loves learning!

Moving very slowly today on the slippery roads, we turned a corner and Abby laughed and said: "ha, we're like a choo choo train!" (Noting the long line of cars)

And earlier today at Nana's, Lochlan was getting upset about something and Abby said: "It's okay buddy, just be patient. Don't get so frustrated!"

boobie milk

Abby says some pretty sweet as well as funny things. I can't possibly keep track of them all. This morning however, this one stopped me in my tracks and I knew I had to write it down!

"Mommy, I drank all my milk. I went *gulp gulp* and it went down here and into my boobies."

(For the record, I stopped nursing Lochlan quite some time ago.)

Permission

I was busy for a few moments and I overheard Abby asking Lochlan if she could play with one his toys. (a new one from Christmas) I have always encouraged her to ask him even though he's not quite ready to respond with a yes or no. To get into the habit at least!

Next thing you know, I peeked in on them and she was taking his head and nodding it yes with her hands!

Made me giggle!
